Healthcare is more effective when people from all walks of life participate in health research. That’s why the National Institutes of Health (NIH), along with partners such as Anthem, Inc., is setting out to make a difference with the All of Us Research Program. Now you can be part of history, too.

All of Us is recruiting 1 million or more volunteers with diverse backgrounds from across the United States to help doctors and researchers better understand why people stay healthy or get sick.

You choose how much to participate

It’s easy to join the All of Us Research Program. You’ll be asked to provide basic background information, such as your name and where you live. The program will also ask about your health, family, home, and work. Some participants may choose to share physical measurements, blood or urine samples, or their electronic health records. It's entirely up to you when, what, and how much you share. You can join from the comfort of home, and you can easily unenroll any time.

How you can benefit

The goal of the program is better health for everyone. As a participant, you may learn new things about yourself, including information about your DNA, genetic ancestry, and traits. If you choose to receive genetic results, you may learn important details that you can share with your doctor, such as how your body might react to certain medicines or whether you have a greater risk of developing certain hereditary diseases or health conditions.

Protecting your privacy

All of Us takes several steps to help keep your personal information private and secure. The program protects participant data by removing anything that would easily identify you, such as your name and Social Security number. All of Us limits and keeps track of who sees the information and will not sell your information to anyone.
