Anthem Joins the United Nations Global Compact

August 11, 2020
As we fight COVID-19 together and face the realities of social unrest across our country, Anthem is committed to building stronger, healthier communities through responsible and active citizenship.

Driving Awareness and Advancing Change
To deliver on our mission of improving lives and communities, we are joining the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. The Compact is a call to companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption, and to take actions that advance societal goals, such as reducing food insecurity and mitigating climate change.

Supporting Justice, Equality, Inclusion, and Relief
We know that strong communities and a healthier planet are products of partnership and commitment to health for all. Through relationships with partners, such as UN Global Compact, we strive to promote diversity and inclusion, champion sustainability, and improve gender and racial equity.

Anthem continues to take actions to improve the world around us, including:
  • A $50M pledge over five years to address social justice issues and reduce health disparities.
  • A commitment to source 100% of the electricity we use with wind and solar energy by 2025.
  • Deep investment in our communities, with 100K+ total associate volunteer hours in in 2019, our highest to date.
We are proud to join UN Global Compact, and commit our resources, our energy, and our hearts to make a meaningful difference. It is not only our legacy, but also our future. We invite you to take part, beside us, to build a more sustainable, empowered, and inclusive future.
